Denton Brass Band Contest

​

The first Denton Contest was held at the Coach and Horses on Hyde Road in 1987 and was the idea of the late Bill Greenwood who was the husband of the publican at that time.

 

Bill was a keen supporter of Denton Original Band which is no longer in existence. He worked tirelessly in the early years, and as a result the contest grew in popularity.

 

After a few years the decision was made to move it to Denton Cricket Club where it has been held ever since.
